Polish Institute of Business and Human Rights

The Polish Institute for Human Rights and Business (PIHRB) is a think-and-do-tank with advanced expertise in human rights and business, labour law and relations, social unrest management, stakeholder engagement, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). PIHRB is registered as a nonprofit private foundation PIHRB under the Court’s Register nr 0000505623. PIHRB’s mission is to advance Human Rights and Business agenda and promote implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) in Poland through research and activities that influence the everyday practices of market actors. PIHRB also contributes to policy and legislation development, as well as engages in educational activities, with the aim of improving respect for human rights and sustainable development principles in the business context. PIHRB is a member of the inter-ministerial and multi-stakeholder CSR Committee, an advisory body to the Minister of Economy. PIHRB cooperates with all stakeholder groups: business, trade unions, NGOs (it has coinitiated the CSR Watch Coalition Poland comprising 11 CSOs active in the CSR/ corporate accountability area), and public administration. All of the research conducted by PIHRB as well as stakeholder engagement experience is of direct relevance to the SMART project, and provides good basis for project activities.
